Your Basic Guide to Drawing
Hello there fellow artists! This website will give you all of the basics to drawing!
Supplies
One of the first things you need for drawing are supplies. It does not really matter whether your supplies cost a lot of money, or if they do not cost a lot. You just need to make sure you have the right supplies. The supplies you need are:
- Paper: The type of paper depends on the type of drawing tool you are using. For example, using charcoal requires paper for charcoal, and colored pencils require mixed media paper because the paper is smoother and thicker.
- Drawing tools: Colored pencils, charcoal, graphite, soft pastels, eraser, etc.
- Sketching pencil. These pencils are listed as either 2H, 4H, or 6H. The "H" means that the lead is harder, so when you sketch, the lead will appear lighter on paper. This is good for sketching so when you go over your drawing with another medium, you won't have to worry about the rough sketches showing through.
- References: This is great to use, whether you are a beginner or experienced, because no one's memory of a person/animal/object is perfect. References can be found on Pinterest, the internet, or even your own home!
